A Special Guest for Hart to Heart: Ashley Lewis Presser

As I'm writing, I can hear the lovely students saying bye to all the friends they've made in class today. I love that Robofun can be a place of connection, learning, and community for our kiddos, and love to hear them having fun. Our class schedule is up and underway! Our classes by grade can be found here! You can register online or call Noah at (212) 245-0444 for more info, anytime.

I have been working with Dr. Ashley Lewis for over 10 years as she evaluated a National Science Foundation grant that Robofun received as well as collaborated on other projects. Ashley is brilliant! We are lucky to have her with us tomorrow for my Hart to Heart at 12:30 on Thursday January 27th.

Can preschool children effectively engage in data collection and analysis activities? If so, what does that look like and how can it be done in a fun, developmentally appropriate way. Hear from Dr. Ashley Lewis Presser about her research on this. She’ll share her research on how to engage young children in the process of collecting, graphing, and discussing data with hands-on materials, physical movement, and a digital app that scaffolds the process for teachers and children.

Bio: Ashley Lewis Presser, Ph.D., is a research scientist at Education Development Center’s Center for Children & Technology. She investigates effective processes for improving STEM learning—particularly for young children—and uses that information in the design of educational interventions. Join us January 27th at 12:30PM.
