What Our Students Teach Us!

Our Students Love to Learn!

On my most recent visit to our classrooms, I was struck by an interesting thought. The more successful our kids become at connecting to what they're doing, the adults around them become less needed. They just want to work! It's a fun moment to see all our students chirping away with each other, focusing on building and coding, and not needing continuous support from our amazing teachers. Of course, the teachers are needed, but the key is when kids are ready. My understanding was to be clear that at times, we need to step out of the way and let kids come to us when they are ready to learn new things.

Please stop by! Meet our teachers! Our summer is only 4 weeks away. If you have a child who needs to get used to new experiences, please feel free to call to set up a visit for your child (and you!) to get the lay of the land at Robofun. We offer programs to 3 - 13-year-olds in robotics, coding (Python or Scratch), or Minecraft. If you have questions or would prefer to register by phone, please do not hesitate to call us at (212) 245-0444 ext. 107 to talk to Noah.

For my Hart to Heart live interview series this Thursday, May 12th at 11:30, I am excited to be interviewing Kelsey Derringer and Matt Chilbert, owners of CodeJoy. Their work focuses on helping more teachers and students than ever engage in robotics and coding via their online platform. They launched in March of 2020 (what a time, right?) and have served over 12,000 students and teachers! CodeJoy works primarily with the BBC micro:bit, the Hummingbird, and the Finch Robot. Their innovative student sessions are a bit like a live, interactive TV show - picture Sesame Street, but where YOU get to control the characters and the world! This summer they are working on some national-level teacher professional development initiatives wherein teachers can receive FREE hardware and training! Please join us!
