Tomorrow is Veteran's Day

Vacation Day Camp is Tomorrow 11/11!

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. We want to take some time to thank all of the brave individuals who show up for our country every day and grant us a feeling of protection and safety.

Veterans also often engage in several different projects and pathways that help us move forward in the field of science, technology, and engineering. Below are a few highlighted veterans who have won prestigious STEM awards.

Capt. Maria Urso: Army

Captain Maria Urso, from the US Army, won the PECASE for her research on cellular mechanisms of musculoskeletal injury and repair. She runs several different trial therapies that could help heal blunt-force trauma injuries.

Army Sgt. Randy Sandifer

Randy Sandifer was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for discovering, while deployed at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, that there was an unbalanced amount of hydrocarbon in the soil. His discovery eventually lead to the facility being shut down, hundreds of lives being saved, and the NPP of a lifetime.

Major Monica Pickenpaugh

Monica Pickenpaugh was granted the annual Federal Engineer Of The Year award, for her "Tuscan Water Accountability Model" which allows users to apply individual conditions to the overall data collection of the water quality in their area.

We want to thank our veterans for their hard work, dedication, and bravery. We're grateful to you!

And on this beautiful day, most of our young scholars are off from school. To bridge that gap, Robofun is offering a vacation day camp tomorrow, Thursday, November 11th! There are a couple of spots still open! Our class schedule by grade can be found here. You can register online or call Noah at (212) 245-0444!

Born in Cali, Colombia, Mario Eraso moved to the US right after finishing high school and then graduated with a civil engineering degree from Lehigh University. After six years in engineering, he went back to school in 2000 and earned a doctoral degree in STEM education, and worked as a STEM coordinator in the School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University. As of this year, Mario is fully dedicated to his company, Zero Limit Learning, which provides educational services to schools, teachers, and families interested in mathematics and computational thinking. If you would like to know how students transition cognitively from arithmetic to algebraic reasoning, or from block-based coding to text-based coding, you can ask him questions during our Live tomorrow. Looking forward to having you join us!
