Little Engineers Classes

Little Engineers combines story, song, and STEAM. Students construct simple machines and develop a love of learning, building, and problem-solving. Rosey the Robot is our companion in this curriculum, and we work together to build structures, dive into making, and discuss ideas together.

Our curriculum gives your child a rich experience that teaches new vocabulary and builds problem-solving skills through trial and error to accomplish tasks in a safe, supportive environment. Our curriculum blends hands-on building, art, and early coding with movement breaks and thoughtful social activities that keep kids engaged and energized.

Children learn to read simple blueprints, design, and construct with LEGO® DUPLO. They create art projects that tie directly into their builds. They’ll even take their first steps into the world of programming using ScratchJr, an intuitive coding platform created specifically for young learners.

Our Little Engineers program builds great skills at a formative age. Students learn to follow a blueprint on paper and translate that into a three-dimensional project. We discuss and build patterns with LEGO, and we practice counting. All are foundations for future math, design, and problem-solving. Constructing their projects develops fine-motor coordination and hand–eye precision, while open-ended challenges encourage them to think creatively and design original solutions.

Throughout the curriculum, children gain early exposure to piece identification, basic engineering concepts, and simple mechanical principles, giving them a STEAM foundation they’ll carry into later grades.

Just as important, they build confidence and social connections. Many Little Engineers begin the program shy or hesitant; they finish feeling proud of what they can create, excited to collaborate, and connected to their teammates. It’s growth you can see—in their skills, in their creativity, and in their confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While we recommend the class for students who are becoming comfortable being dropped off, we definitely welcome a parent (or nanny) staying for about 15 minutes to support the student in acclimating, then waiting outside the classroom to ensure they’re ok for another 15 minutes.

  • Yes, they do. While our teachers are trained to provide fun and educational classroom experiences, they technically are not allowed to help students physically with any bathroom activities.

  • The youngest students are around three and a half years of age.
