Happy Hanukkah!
Happy Hanukkah! For those celebrating, today we light the first candle and enjoy the 1st of our 8 days of Hanukkah!
Traditionally, Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is the remembrance of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. The temple came under attack by the Syrian-Greek army. After the army was defeated, the temple lamp was lit. Although it only had enough oil to burn for a few hours, it stayed lit for eight days, hence Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days and nights. We celebrate this holiday by sharing presents, singing traditional songs, spinning dreidels, and eating delicious traditional foods including jelly donuts and latkes.
Happy First Night!
