Dia De Los Muertos!
Happy Dia De Los Muertos!
I hope you're enjoying Halloween!
Today is a day known for celebrating the dead and making that process not so scary. Many different cultures have a way of honoring and remembering those who have passed on, and they celebrate this through their own traditions.
Tomorrow is November 1st, Dia De Los Muertos! An ancient Aztec holiday used to celebrate the relationship to the other side, praise those who've passed, and celebrate the life we're living now, with gratitude.
Day of the Dead is a two-day holiday (November 1st and 2nd) meant to commemorate those in the community who have passed on, sharing stories on their memory, writing our own wills and offerings, and sharing joyful stories of our current life with family and friends.
A few things our staff has done to celebrate in the past are Paint Sugar Skulls, Drink Spicy Hot Chocolate, Watch the children's movie "Coco", or create an altar.
However, we are not experts and we want to make note that we share this blog with a grain of gratitude, in understanding that these are ancient traditions far beyond us, and hoping to spread the word on it as an act of gratitude and introspection. We're outsiders with great appreciation.
Here are some other resources to learn more about this holiday, so we can be properly informed, and maybe take some time to celebrate and honor this tradition.
Happy Halloween! Happy Dia De Los Muertos!
