Overview

RoboFun | Vision Education & Media provides exciting, hands-on after school programs using emerging technologies for PK-12th grade youth. We ignite kids’ passion to explore & solve problems as they learn to invent, build, code and troubleshoot. Our students build and program LEGO® robots, solder DIY electronic projects, create and code video games, shoot stop motion animations, and design web pages.

Job Summary

Provide direct and administrative support for all programs across three divisions. Manage equipment, software installations, and logistics for all schools. Teach classes as needed in schools and after school programs throughout the city. Become familiar with and use all inventory and ordering systems for program equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

Equipment & Software Management

  • Inventory and label all equipment/materials with program information
  • Monitor equipment usage and replenish/repair as needed
  • Schedule transportation of equipment to program locations
  • Maintain efficient equipment management and storage systems
  • Install software at schools sites

Program Support

  • Send contracts to mentors for clubs and workshops
  • Create wiki-links for all classes
  • Print, bind and track curriculum binders for mentors
  • Maintain filing system for all 21 CCLC attendance sheets for monthly report
  • Teach classes as a substitute or mentor as needed
  • Coordinate with schools and CBOs on equipment and installation logistics

Office Support

  • Assist with office/studio operations as needed

Work Relationships

Works closely with Program Managers. Work schedule is generally 9 AM-5 PM Mon-Fri. 60% NYC travel and 40% office based. Some schedule adjustments and evenings are required to facilitate programs and oversee projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, a valid US driver’s license, and the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds required. Must have the ability to solve problems and work independently. A strong attention to detail is required. Experience working with children in traditional or non-traditional learning environments is a plus! Strong project, planning, and time management skills are essential. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and cooperate with multiple staff members and partners in an efficient and professional manner.

They build and program LEGO® robots, solder DIY electronic projects, create and code video games, and shoot stop motion animations. Learning happens in a way that focuses on the passion and interest of our students, while addressing academic content areas. Most importantly, our clubs are fun for our students!

RoboFun is seeking part-time instructors who are available to teach in our after school clubs. We provide paid training in the technology we use.

Our instructors are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent classroom performance will be considered for additional teaching opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach from 2+ days a week
  • Attend Vision Education & Media trainings to master different curriculum technologies
  • Independently gain proficiency with curriculum technologies
  • Maintain regular communication with Manager
  • Complete written reports detailing classroom activity within 24 hours of class
  • Supplement basic curriculum with additional activities/project ideas

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree with a background in education
  • Approximately two years of teaching experience either in a traditional school environment or within non-traditional teaching environments such as coaching or camp counseling
  • Ability to commit to teaching 2 days a week for a full semester
  • Proven mastery of classroom management techniques
  • Ability to independently get to and from program locations in and around 5 boroughs
  • Availability to attend staff trainings and workshops as required
  • Proficiency with computers & a desire to learn new technologies
  • Energy and enthusiasm about working with youth
  • Experience with educational technology is a plus

We welcome people interested in education who may not be familiar with the particular technologies we use, provided they are eager to learn and passionate about technology education. Our teaching assistants are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent classroom performance will be considered for additional opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teacher with after school clubs during the academic year
  • Assist Lead Teacher with birthday parties and special events on weekends
  • Assist Lead Teacher during full day Summer Camp Program from June-August 2016. Assistant positions are either from 8am-1pm or from 12pm-5pm
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Utilize Robofun | Vision Education & Media trainings to master different curriculum technologies
