Overview

RoboFun | Vision Education & Media provides exciting, hands-on after-school programs using emerging technologies for PK-12th grade youth. We ignite kids’ passion to explore & solve problems as they learn to invent, build, code and troubleshoot. Our students build and program LEGO® robots, solder DIY electronic projects, create and code video games, shoot stop motion animations, and design web pages.

Job Summary

RoboFun is seeking a Director of Finance to own and drive all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Robofun’s annual budgeting process, coordinating with executives and functional leaders across the organization
  • Own a consolidated financial model and run periodic re-forecasts throughout the year based on changing scenarios, with a comprehensive understanding of revenue drivers and projects and associated resource needs across the company
  • Oversee accurate and relevant monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement preparation, including full variance analyses
  • Communicate spend by department and project monthly to functional leaders to understand variances and ensure spending remains on plan
  • Assist in the development, tracking and reporting of operational and financial metrics
  • Support CEO and Director of Operations with quantitative analysis for day to day decision making, as well as the preparation of materials for executive meetings
  • Implement and maintain contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements
  • Forecast company cash flow and conduct subsequent strategic planning based on analysis
  • Present condensed financial data to CEO and department heads, highlighting relevant financial information
  • Maintain company and department budgets and perform regular variance analysis
  • Evaluate and oversee pricing structure of programs based on market trends and industry drivers
  • Work with departmental sales teams to develop strategy and forecast financial outcomes of alternate scenarios
  • Manage all internal accounting and bookkeeping
  • Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience in advanced analytical roles such as FP & A, corporate finance, operational budget management, Management accounting or Strategic business planning
  • Fluent in Quickbooks a must
  • Working knowledge of Paychex a must
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills a must, with expertise in financial modeling and analytics
  • BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business administration. Masters degree / MBA or CPA a plus
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting
  • Extreme attention to detail, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
  • Comfort and experience presenting to senior management using exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a high-growth technology company a must
  • Proactive communicator with excellent verbal and written skills, who is capable of building strong relationships with colleagues
  • Outstanding project and time management skills, including prioritization and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand business requirements of a customer-focused organization and to provide solutions to daily operational issues

Learning happens in a way that focuses on the passion and interest of our students, while addressing academic content areas. Most importantly, our clubs are fun for our students!

RoboFun is seeking part-time instructors who are available to teach in our after school clubs. We provide paid training in the technology we use.

Our instructors are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent classroom performance will be considered for additional teaching opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach from 2+ days a week
  • Attend Vision Education & Media trainings to master different curriculum technologies
  • Independently gain proficiency with curriculum technologies
  • Maintain regular communication with Manager
  • Complete written reports detailing classroom activity within 24 hours of class
  • Supplement basic curriculum with additional activities/project ideas

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree with a background in education
  • Approximately two years of teaching experience either in a traditional school environment or within non-traditional teaching environments such as coaching or camp counseling
  • Ability to commit to teaching 2 days a week for a full semester
  • Proven mastery of classroom management techniques
  • Ability to independently get to and from program locations in and around 5 boroughs
  • Availability to attend staff trainings and workshops as required
  • Proficiency with computers & a desire to learn new technologies
  • Energy and enthusiasm about working with youth
  • Experience with educational technology is a plus

Our teaching assistants are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent classroom performance will be considered for additional opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teacher with after school clubs during the academic year
  • Assist Lead Teacher with birthday parties and special events on weekends
  • Assist Lead Teacher during full day Summer Camp Program from June-August 2016. Assistant positions are either from 8am-1pm or from 12pm-5pm
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Utilize Robofun | Vision Education & Media trainings to master different curriculum technologies
